Root Help "Error while formatting /system!" - Solved!

Hello,

I am trying to restore my phone to factory rom through CWM. When I attempt to restore, it verifies the MD5, Reases boot, restores boo, then gets to Restoring system. it then presents error..

"E:format_volume: format_rfs_devi /dev.block/stl12
Error while formatting /system!"

If I navigate to mounts and attempt to mount /system it fails as well
"Error while mounting /system!"

What can I do at this point? I can't restore a back up. Phone just boots and sits I updated my CWM to 6.0.2.8 ( I think I was on 5.0.2.8 when it initially failed) Feedback or ideas are welcome. I would have to have a brick on my hands for no apparent reason.

Hmm... try odining the recovery... will add links when i get home..

You got that error because you were trying to restore a backup that uses the rfs file system on a CWM that only works with the ext4 file system. You can only restore a stock ROM with CWM 5.0.2.7. Here's a link http://openzio.rtrnetwork.com/openzio/OpenAndroid/utils/CWM-SuigintouLain.zip

The issue was indeed the recovery I was using. I installed the recovery posted by KageBeast and I am restored again! Thank you so much for the quick response, and thank you Cogra147 for responding back!
