Help help firmware update

following happens friends
I have my GT-l8190 device with android version 4.1.1
and I have a friend who recently bought at Movistar (Venezuela) model says that if equal to mine
but with an L at the end so GT-l8190L and has its version of android 4.1.2 and asks for a newer update
someone tells me that's happening to my device

besides my device does not recognize Kies 3 I had to download Kies 2.6 and try updating the firmware out there and tells me that my firmware
is not supported .....

Both of them are the same, having no difference in hardware. And about the Android versions, the 4.1.2 REMOVES some features, including the lockscreen Ripple effect, so I do not recommend updating.
Also, if you your phone is from a carrier you need to wait for them to push the new updated carrier ROM, which might take a while
