Help ***** HELP! HELP! HELP! text message can't display correctly &phone won't ring ************

Hello!

I am all new to this forum so sorry if I post this in the wrong forum.

I just bought the phone about 3 days ago. I got the same issue which I had with my Samsung Charge I had before. I used the charge for about a year and I was able to read all of non-ASCII characters fine. However, two weeks ago, for some reason, I couldn't read non-ASCII characters any more. When people send me about 5-7 text messages, I was only able to read one non-ASCII characters of the messages. Other six messages all show random letters like "??0 0 b Nxn[?b O" . Firstly, I thought it was an issue with the phone. I called Samsung and Verizon, and they didn't know how to help me with that. Then I sold my my Samsung and bought Motorola Razor, but I got the same issue. Now, I know it is not a phone issue. I think I need to do some decoding on the phone. I just don't know how to do it. If anyone knows how to solve this issue, please share it with me and I would greatly appreciate it. After I bought the new phone, I didn't even sign in my Google account or download a single app. And I didn't even put in my SD card. Then I let people send me non-ASCII characters, but I still couldn't read it. That was why I knew it is not the phone issue. Maybe I need to do some setting on the phone. Also, I got another issue. When people call me, my phone won't ring and just directly goes to my VM. I don't have this issue with my Samsung charge, only with my Motorola Razor. If anybody can help me with those two issues, please let me know. Thank you very much!

Let us not rule out the two highest probable causes.

1) It's not your phone, it's their phone that's causing the corrupted text messages.
2) They're messing with you.

As for the going straight to VM, it sounds like you're not activated properly on the network. Verizon should definitely be able to help you with this issue. However, a factory reset of the RAZR should clear out everything.

As far as the straight to VM issue.. is it everyone or just certain people? If you open up the people app, and tap on a contact, then tap options, at the bottom of that menu is a box that you can check and send all calls from that contact to VM.. this may not be your issue.. but it can't hurt to check.
