HELP! How do I put a patern lock on my stock messaging app?

I downloaded handcent and set a patern lock on my messages. It works fine but when I go into my stock messaging application, it doesn't ask for a password. I don't want to delete the standard message app or anything I just want to know how I can make it so that it prompts for the same password that I set for handcent. What would be the point of having a password on one and not the other right? Please help.. I feel like I've tried everything!

not all apps support individual password locking/unlocking.

Have you considered just locking the phone using a pin or swipe from the lock screen?
