Help HELP!! I can't get su to work.

Hey, I have a G1. I only got it for what it can do, not to make calls. So I downgraded it to RC29 and typed in: <enter>setprop persist.service.adb.enable 1<enter> and got adb connected. But to get this to work I need to use su and that didn't work. I NEED HELP WITH GETTING su TO WORK!

I am new to android as well but have experience with Linux so....

The su command mean switch user, most commonly to the super user, aka the root user, who has the power to modify any part of the system. So I am assuming that you need to "root" your phone in order to use su.
