HI EVERYBODY,
after many years i finally got a nice Android Phone, BUT i am under a Family contract with AT&T.

Up until now, i have been using a Blackberry Curve 8310 with Unlimited Data Plan... now i have this Phone that instead works with 3G speeds.

What do i have to do to make my new Samsung Galaxy S work with AT&T 3G Network?

It is my understanding that if i call AT&T and tell them i have this phone, they will pretty much make me pay for some kind of Crazy Plan that i don't need, so i was thinking about keeping my old BlackBerry Plan and don't tell them anything about it, but will my Phone work on 3G if i do this?

Do i have to do some kind of manual configuration on my Phone to make it work?
Thank's for any info

Well call them or not if they have the imei. They will force you to use a smartphone plan. If your phone gas the 3G frequencies it should work already.

If you have a BB unlimited data plan, just put the SIM card in the Nexus and it should work fine. I ran my SE X10 for about a week with my BB Curve SIM before I finally did the official activation.

You might have to manually add the APN information- APN Network Settings for AT&T - Android @ MoDaCo

As far as getting 3G, I looked up the i9000 and it has the 1900MHz 3G band. AT&T uses the 850MHz and 1900MHz (either/or) so it should get 3G in some (maybe most) areas. My phone (Acer Liquid) also only has the 1900MHz 3G band only and I get 3G throughout most of the greater Houston area. So if you do not get 3G, then the lack of the 850MHz band could be a reason (hopefully that isn't the case tho).
