HELP! I need apps for my students!

I'm a high school teacher and I just bought a couple of Android tablets to use in the classroom.

Instead of photocopies, I'll just download PDF files to the tablets and the kids can read them.

It will save me paper and money and it's more interesting for the kids, so I think it was a good investment.

Any other tips? How can use these tablets to make classes more interesting? Any apps that you recommend?

I believe AppLock is a must, so that they don't fool around with the tablet instead of doing their work.

Hello and welcome to the forum.Let me start off with whattttt. And where was you when i was in school,my teachers failed to give us lunch and snacks . May i ask what kind of tablets did you get .

Welcome to AF! :)

What an awesome idea. As gtbarry has asked, if you let us know what subjects you'll be teaching etc, we'll be in a better position to help.

Thank you so much for your support and enthusiasm, guys! Believe me, it really means a lot to me.

I'll be teaching Maketing and Tourism this year but any tips on any subject are more than welcome.

I'll also be including a game or two (e.g. Angry Birds, Lane Splitter) just in the case they finish their tasks earlier - that's why I need AppLock or they will just play the games and ignore their work lol

I bought these really cheap DENVER tablets, I can't remember the model.

I've heard a few teachers integrate this little app called Tapestry into their curriculum. It is a "mirroring" app that allows all the students to see what the teacher's screen shows in real time. If you change pictures/slides, everybody transitions. If you pinch and zoom onto a picture, everybody's image pinches and zooms. The only limitation is currently the app only supports pictures, so if you have PDF's, you'll have to convert them to images. But if you happen to have some material in that format, you can check it out.

If you're using Powerpoint type presentations in your lessons, Kingsoft Office is a good way to view them on Android Tablets.

Teachers are supposed to give lunch and snacks? I thought students went to the school canteen for that. :p;)

Another good cool app would be teamviewer . This will allow you to show the students all at one time from your desk and not walk around the class . For example if you set them up into groups and you have the flu and don't want to pass off to your students . You can do this from home or from your desk . Teamviewer yeah. This just adds remote access .:D:eek::thumbup:
