Help Help identifying icons

I feel like an idiot...I'm sure these icons are standard. I am coming from a blackberry to a NOTE so these icons are unfamiliar to me. I can't figure out for the life of me what the two icons circled in red mean. I searched and searched online and there is no identifying text on them or popup text on them. I'm sure someone knows. Thanks in advance.:)

I presume the arrow means location/GPS and the circle of arrows is sync.

Turn location services off and stuff like Maps, navigation etc won't work. You'll also lose the ability to locate your phone should you lose it.

Turn sync off and you'll stop getting emails/facebook notifications (if you use FB) etc.

Thanks for the help. The arrow is GPS thanks for that.

The circle arrow icon doesn't seem to be sync as I turned it off and am still getting emails. I'm not sure what else it could be. Synch makes sense though.

It should be sync (it is on all phones/devices I've had). No idea what it is if it's not.

What email client are you using as some work independently of the phones main sync option. I know I used Cloudmagic (I think) and even if sync was off, I got emails through that.

To test, Turn it off then head to Settings -> Accounts and there should be a check box at the top telling you Auto Sync is off. Turn it on and the Auto Sync should turn on.

That's great thanks. I am just using gmail.
But I turned it off and went into settings and it indeed showed sync was off . So that's what it is afterall.
It even said sync was off by my email address in settings yet I am still receiving emails. Perhaps gmail is the same as cloudmagic and still continues to work even with sync off.
Either way you answered my question. I appreciate it! Thank you.

yeah that is weird. It's a NOTE 2 with Cyanogen mod equivalent to Android 5.0. So that may screw things up. As that mod screwed up the s-pen functionality so I wouldn't be surprised.
Anyway I appreciate the quick response to my first post ever!

Are you sending emails with sync off?
If so, during the outbound connection it may pick up anything waiting to be downloaded.

No i was actually receiving emails with sync off so not sure why this is happening. I have a feeling the mod on this phone is screwing things up.
