Help Help, I'm my phone's not very smart.

Or...maybe I'm missing something?

I just purchased the Optimus M the other day, only to be disappointed by three things about the phone's performance (or lack there of):

1.) It will not send MMS (multimedia messages). That is, if I take a photo and try to send it to another cell phone, it won't work! It gives me an error message that says "message expired or unavailable". And it won't send. WTF? Even my old, crappy, metro flip phone could send a picture message....

2.) I still can't send a text message over 160 characters. When It goes over 160 characters, it becomes an MMS and I get that same message: "message expired or unavailable". Shouldn't I be able to send a longer text message on a smartphone?

3.) No Metroweb? So, apps requiring internet only work when you're connected to Wifi. am I right? (my old, crappy metro flip phone could access the internet via Metroweb anywhere...)

Is there something wrong with my phone? or is this to be expected with Metro's new Android phone since they don't have a 3G network?

If someone could explain what's going on to me, that'd be most helpful.

Something is wrong with your phone. All those things work fine on my phone. I live in the Bay Area, CA. Works well.

I dont think Metro has 3G..but whatever speed it is, it works. I can get emails, surf, just a little slower than other carriers.

Ok. That's what I thought. It just doesn't make sense that so much doesn't work with this phone.

I'm in the Bay Area too, btw. So, for you apps like Facebook or Gmail function when you're not connected to Wifi? (and you can send picture messages?)

All that stuff works fine, except FB..I dont use it. Plus I removed the app.

But yes gmail, my comcast email, I use Beejive for IM's, SMS, picture messaging, Gtalk. All work over "2G/2.5G"

sounds like something with the phones settings or your not getting data connection.

take it into metro.

I know someone who had the same type of thing, and it was due to the person at metro setting the phone up wrong. they had actualy setup the phone with the wrong area code. LOL.
