Help Help - issue with MMS

Hi there
I am a brand new smart phone user. I bought aSamsung Galaxy ace yesterday - however the mms just won't work. I have the sim from my old phone in the new one, mms never worked on old phone either, but telstra (phone company) said it was the phone, not the sim when they tested it previously.
Just spent frustrating amount of time on tech support and tried both new and old sim in phone without any change. They checked settings and said they were all fine.
Their advice, take it back to where you bought it.....grrr.

So the phone says retrieving or sending and then does nothing. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Hi,
Maybe I'm telling you something you already know, but for sending MMS you need to switch on packet data.

Hi yes, that's all good.....I ended up finding an answer..... which I will post incase anyone in the same situation comes across this thread.
The current Android 2.2 level of software in use sometimes causes issues with Telstra network customers. In order to change this
Go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobiles Networks -> Access Point Names
Click the Menu button and select reset to defaults so that all existing APN's are deleted. If there's no option to reset to default then simply delete all existing APN's before entering the new one below.
Click the Menu button and select New APN.
Enter the following settings:

  • Name: Telstra Internet
  • APN: telstra.wap
  • Proxy:
  • Port:
  • Username:
  • Password:
  • Server: wap.telstra.com/wap

  • MMSC: http://mmsc.telstra.com:8002
  • MMS Proxy: 10.1.1.180
  • MMS Port: 80
  • MCC: 505
  • MNC: 01
  • Authentication Type: CHAP
  • APN Type: default, mms (if you have an option in a drop down list for interenet + mms then select this option)
Now click on Menu, then Save.
Your APN has been successfully entered.
You should only have one APN in this case. If you have a second specific APN for MMS, please delete it.
Once you've installed your APN settings it is best practice to restart the handset
.

This is for Telstra customers in Australia.

Perhaps you could read my post above? The telstra setting do not work and will not ever work for these android phones that have this glitch. Of course I tried that MMS setting from Telstra - it was the first thing I did, I wouldn't spend hours searching the net for an answer if I hadn't tried that.

The post with the correct settings above is the ONLY thing that works and not sure why Telstra themselves aren't aware of that.
