There are many guides on ROM development in xda. But they seem to old, could they be considered relevant? I'm a senior member at XDA but I came here just to ask this question. Which is better, xda or android forums? Is there anything like senior member, recognised contributor/dev. here? Are there rules like xda? When was this forum launched? Could I buy an ad-free subscription to get rid of ads, like XDA?

Since you're a senior member at XDA, I'd think you'd have firsthand knowledge of all things at their site. We are a group of Android enthusiasts who simply donate our time and knowledge to this community. Welcome to our forums.

Welcome @Sharath Chandra, as @Dannydet said, we are an enthusiast site. We were the first Android support forum, launched sometime in 2008. There is an ad-free subscription (http://androidforums.com/account/upgrades). As far as rules, it's mostly don't pirate stuff and be nice (http://androidforums.com/threads/site-rules-guidelines.704/).

Android Forums and XDA are not mutually exlusive. Many folks, myself included, are members of both. AF is a little more user to user support and less about development. That said, there is a lot of development happening here as well
