Root HELP: LG Optimus L9 P769 soft bricked; getting error with R&D tool KDZ flash

ELCID777

Newbie
I accidentally soft bricked my L9 P769 after installing an app called Chainfire 3D on it. The phone boots up, but stays on the LG logo and doesn't do anything after that.

I sought help on a well known forum, but found little to no help there. One of the users directed me to this guide here:

[GUIDE] [UNBRICK][ROOT] FLASH Any LG Factory ROM (kdz) WITH OFFLINE FIX - xda-developers

It's the R&D tool method using S/W upgrade mode on the phone and tricking LG's update servers to load a new KDZ on it. I followed the steps in that guide very carefully while making sure everything installed properly, however, I keep getting this error no matter what I do.

My phone is recognized by my PC, so that's not the issue.

So basically, I'm stuck. I have NO idea what to do, and I've become quite frustrated as I have been trying to get this to work for almost a week now with no progress.

What could be the cause of this error? And what alternative methods are there? I need to install a fresh ROM, but R&d tool and ADB seem to be the only ones. I've tried ADB but no dice with that one either.

Please help.

Did you try this method? You'll need to use your kdz though. The ones instructed to use here are for metro L9.

Hmmm...this method appears to be the same as the one I was using previously. Does this one not require the hosts file fix?

But I tried it anyway, and this is the problem I'm seeing.

That is with the hosts file edit/shttps thing enabled. Without those things, it tells me that my phone is on V20H and there's nothing that needs an upgrade/fix, even if I click on upgrade recovery.

With this method you don't need the host file edit. It should of prompted to you to select a country and language after selecting normal web upgrade and then upgrade start. Someone else said recently that it wasn't giving that option to do so anymore. Lg might of worked around our workaround not sure. .

Did you watch the video?

Yeah, I watched it.

When I select "normal web upgrade test", it takes me directly to the LG support tool instead of the "select country & language" window.

It will take me to that tab, but only if I enable the shttps and have the hosts file edited, but then that's when I get "the USB and phone are not connected" error after it starts the flashing process.

Well, I never did get that method to work since the instructions were so difficult to follow.

So I've opted flashing with fastboot instead, because it seems more straight forward, or at least that's what I thought.

but nope, I'm facing difficulties again. This is what I'm seeing now, even after having installed the correct drivers.
