HELP! Mail app stopped retrieving mail...

That's right. I have my gmail account linked to the Mail app (not the Gmail app, just didnt like UI) and it has been working fine until today.

Now, the app won't retrieve mail from my account. I am looking at my mail app, and dont see the new mail that I am seeing when viewing my inbox on my computer. Yes, I have pressed menu>refresh, and yes I have tried rebooting.

Help please?

The craptastic stock mail app has a memory limit.....
Delete all the mail in the trash folder and a few in the inbox, should start receiving again.

Is there a way to set the number of emails to show on the Mail app at a time? I.e. have the Mail app only show the top 50 messages. With this, each time I get a new email, the very bottom one would dissapear (not sent to Trash, just taken out of the Mail app).

I thought Mail>menu>more>settings>send and recieve>download options did this, I guess not? What does it do, then?
