Root Help me identify what was done to my phone

archi

Lurker
I bought my phone as is and I have no idea what has been done to it to make it work on my carrier. I am still on Gingerbread and would like to upgrade to ICS.

This phone was originally from Rogers network, Canada and is now being used on Wind Mobile network, Canada

Here is the phone info

Model Number : SGH-I717R

Android Version : 2.3.6

Baseband Version : T989DTLKJ3

Kernel version : 2.6.35.11

Build Number : Gingerbread.248

I am an ultra-noob and I apologize in advance for that.

I think I can say for sure that if this is a Rogers phone working on Wind Mobile then it is unlocked and running a custom radio. You can upgrade to ics but you WILL loose your radio mod and your phone probably (most likely) won't work on your current carrier. What you need is the most current ics Wind Mobile radio to flash after you upgrade (I'm assuming you are rooted).

First thing is first, pull the battery, put it back in, hold down both volume rockers and turn it on. Hold all 3 keys until you feel the first vibration, then let go of the power button and continue to hold both volume rockers until it boots. Report back what you see.

Sounds like you have a highly modded phone, this could work to your advantage, but we gotta figure out where you are in order to help you get to where you wanna be.
