Help Help me make a good decision

Hey all,

Just found this forum yesterday and it helped me a lot.
This goes out to all you Defy owners out there.

I am a cinema lighting technician and camera operator/cinematographer from Israel. My work involves a lot of field work, climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling etc.
I currently own an old-ish Nokia E66, which I am not very happy with, especialy because I had to fix the screen on it after a day in the field two times already. It also dings and scraches VERY easily.
I need a phone that it strong and durrable, and I will also like to make my first steps into the smartphone world.
I have an option to buy a simfree Defy with a 2.2.2 upgrade incl. and I think I will go for it.
My questions are:

1. I am no serious gamer, and I don't enjoy watching lots of movies on my mobile devices (even my laptop), but still I would like to know: FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE (I've seen and read 1000 reviews already, now I want to know the word strait from the owners), how does the Defy deal with media? should I expect lags and stutter? also, over time, does the prossesor become 'tired'? How much of a difference does the slower prossesor make while playing basic movies (no HD) and games?
2. I've noticed in some reviews there is a little lag and stutter while browsing the web... I don't get pissed off easily by lag, but I would like to know: is this a real problem? is web browsing stable and smooth enough to make it practical?
3. Does the device freeze/crash at all? Did any of you have problems under severe circumstances like heat (I am in Israel after all, and I see all the iphone people cry over thier sluggish devices under the israel sun ;) )?

I would really like your opinion on the true, day-to-day usage of this device. I need a 'friendly' perspective, and not another 'pro' run-down.

Thanks!!

FWIW, I've been watching from my slingbox and sling adapter, and video is "fairly smooth" (no freezes, but may not be getting full 24-30fps via 3G), and Netflix streams pretty well via wi-fi (i.e. the video processing is not that bad).

The screen will scratch, but is more durable than most non-Gorilla Glass devices. Having knocked my n900 in the sink while shaving, the Defy is a welcome change, especially given that I can take it while cycling, and not worry about sweat/water from bottles/rain.
