guys i got galaxy spica yesterday and im totally new to android OS and i read alot of forums about how to update my spica to 2.1 OFFICIALLY , i don want to lose my 12 month guarantee , so i downloaded NPS 1.5 and when i connect my phone the NPS read it GT I5700 but when i press on da icon it say " this phone doesnt support file transfer and when i press upgrade my phone it says there are no necessary updates
plz help cuz i read alot of subjects but all talkin abt rooting and odin program i want to update it officially

Try putting the phone in debug mode. Go to settings > Applications > Development then click USB debugging. Then connect it.
If it does not work try downloading kies for samsung. You can find it on samsung website next to NPS and just leave it in debug mode and connect it. It should recognize it.

And here is a direct link to KIES on samsung.com/uk, u can choose ur own country if this one doesn't suite u.

Support for GT-I5700 SAMSUNG
Just click firmware update tab and u will get a link to kies.

i downloaded kies 2 and when i connect da mobile says " this device is not supported by kies 2 , make sure that ur device and supported and try again " :/

i really got maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad idk wht to do and i can't use my phone on android 1.5 cuz its too slow and there is no apps for it , need help fast :(

Try taking it to official samsung service b4 rooting if you really are that big on official firmware. Really don't know how to help you. :S
Next time when you buy a phone check some forums first so you avoid getting a headache. Tho I recommend rooting it. It's a good thing just so you know. :P Tho if you don't know how or haven't got any experience in these types of things - don't.

well i don have much experience in rooting ,and is there is any risk when i root my mobile ?
and i heared that there is now 2.2 froyo and 2.3 gingerbread is that good options or shall i download 2.1 if it more safe , i don want to root it and face problems in software after that ......

It's not that big of a deal but you need to have a bit more advanced skills with pc's and just be really good at following instructions. Personally I did ALL my firmware flashes on a laptop with battery inserted just in case the power went out. And ofc u need to have a full phone battery or at least 50% just to be safe. :)

Well, I installed froyo with update from here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-spica/281829-update-pack-cm-spica.html

Before that I had a rooted 2.1 installed from FW Android - www.SamFirmware.com with 802 kernel and it was working great! :D
No software probs and so on.
After this update with the previous link I am having some troubles with memory. Some things just keep force closing, some games like "carl's pool" and memory optimizer though i think it can be set-up to work better by internal memory optimizer. Need to ask on this forum first so track my posts. :) cheers

If you have issues with CM, check out forums.samdroid.com where you can find the latest releases/bugs lists/patches, and of course, the devs doing the work in the first place ;) you'll likely get a quicker response from the devs/community there as thats where all the new stuff is happening, and then filtering onto here.
