Root Help Me Root My WFS! (MetroPCS/marvelc)

Newbie
Hello I am having trouble rooting the HTC Wildfire S. I am currently running Android 2.3.4 and I have hboot. 1.10.1000. I HAVE UNLOCKED MY BOOTLOADER.
I have a marvelc from MetroPCS wildfire S. I tried the "how to root Wildfire s with S-ON finally!" guide but that didn't work. I have tried to S-OFF my phone without XTC clip but it gives me an error when I try to "cleans8" it just says like update failed! security error or something like model ID incorrect. So nothing has been working for me :( IF SOMEONE COULD PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO ROOT OR S-OFF MY WILDFIRE S FOR METROPCS RUNNING HBOOT 1.10.1000 AND ANDROID 2.3.4 IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Nothing has worked I give up please help me. Thanks for looking...

sorry to excite you with a reply lol but i am currently in a similar situation.. i am completely stock right now, can even figure out how to unlock bootloader... so do you mind if i ask how you got to unlock the bootloader?? and maybe i can help accomplish root :D

Try the Wildfire S Manager. It is pretty simple to use and will auto install just about everything you need. It will make your phone S-off.

First, download the root.zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=672519&d=1312136127

Next, connect your phone to your computer, and select disk drive. You can view all the folders on your phone. Now paste the root.zip into your phone.

Then, download the Wildfire S Manager
http://www.juniorwebdevs.co.uk/wfs/Wildfire S Manager.exe

Install and run the program. Re-connect your phone with htc sync on and with usb debugging enabled. Select 1 for it to script and prep your phone. It should reboot your phone and auto-install clockwork recovery. Now on your phone, use clockwork recovery and go to "install zip from sd card" and "choose zip from sd card". Find the root.zip you put in earlier and select it. that should root your phone. Boot your phone back on normally and test out any rooted apps you want to make sure it worked.

Go to htcdev.com. If you haven't already, register an account with them. Now go click on unlock bootloader and get started. Agree to whatever comes up and select your device. The guide there will take you through all the steps.

Hi guys,

Sorry no one was able to help you guys till now. Guess everyone must have been busy because of easter :D yumm lots of chocolate :D:D
Anyway, Sadkisson, unless you use XTC clip (I think that's waht it's called), your phone will remain S-ON but still be rooted so nothing to worry about it's normal

MetroPCS/Marvelc users cannot use XTC Clip because we have no SIM card slot. CDMA requires no SIM card, so we do not have one and therefore no way to use XTC Clip.

There are ways to S-OFF. Had you looked, you would have saw that I posted several ways to accomplish this.

Take a look at this thread. Particularly the first page for S-OFF guide, and then the last few pages for the files required in the guide.

That's interesting...Did not know that... Will definitely keep that in mind now:p

the wildfire s manager link isn't working, it gives me an 404 error :(

i have tried SupertoolV3 and others , after HTCdev unlock on my WFS, and this is the only solution that worked.
The Link here did not work, but if i remember correctly i found another one at

forum(dot)xda-developers(dot)com/showthread.php?p=21117665#post21117665

I had HTC sync turned off, SD card in with root.zip on it and accessed it thru bootloader/recovery CWM as described.

Thanks again, my WFS is rooted.
