I'm torn between 3 devices: The OPO, the Asus Zenfone 2, and the Moto X Play.

The OPO has good performance and flagship specs, along with great software (I love CM!), and is easy to unlock and root. but has bad support and parts are hard to find.

The Zenfone has amazing performance (4GB of ram??!!) and a decent display, but the software seems a bloated, and updates are questionable.

The Moto X Play has ludicrous battery life, great software, expandable storage, and okay performance, but there is no gyroscope, and there is literally no development for the phone right now (this will change when it gets released as the Droid Maxx 2 on verizon however)

so which is best? all have their benefits, as well as downfalls, the OPO almost doesn't make the cut, but it's hanging on due to my love of root and CM.

For a device that's easy to unlock and root, have lot's of development, have you considered a Nexus? On the other hand, Verizon "Droid" and "easy to unlock and root", might not happen as Big Red tends to lock their devices down tighter than a duck's arse AFAIK, and according to one post in the above thread. "And for the folks on the carrier version of the Moto X, the bootloader is impossible to unlock, so custom ROMs are not an option"

OnePlus is certainly good for development and ROMs, but on the other hand unless you're in Asia, you might be buying it as an import, so any parts and service may have to come from Hong Kong. And if your carrier is Verizon, OnePlus is not an option anyway.
