First of all- what you're doing (downloading movies without paying for them from legitimate sites) is illegal, most forums like this can't allow you to post illegal stuff like that. (just say you have a movie which won't play so the forum doesn't get sued/ shutdown.)

Second, those downloads could have any sorts of virus/malware whatever. I work on computers for a living and know it's impossible to catch every single virus without some serious work and mutliple virus scans from multiple different companies.

You can try anyvideoconverter.com for a converter.

Apps which play most movies on the Android tablets are Moboplayer and Rockplayer Lite- both free on the Google market.

The forums won't get sued, it's just that people believe it is unethical.

You mean ILLEGAL.

I've seen goofier stuff happen because of the record and movie industry. and in the terms of service for any forum on the internet, most illegal activities are not supposed to be discussed.

Hi Davidg1225. First, welcome to Android Forums. Second, most public forums - even those that cater to things like DVD copying - normally don't condone posts that blatantly admit to piracy such as yours. While I'm not the Software Police - it's not my business nor my concern where or how you get your movies/music - these kinds of posts are usually frowned upon as it can cause trouble for the fourm and/or website owners.

One other suggestion - this is a fourm, not a text message. Your post contained little to no capitalization and was a giant run-on sentence. To make another Police reference (lol), I'm not the Grammar Police but posts like that are very difficult to follow.

But to answer your question, depending on the format of the source file, you'll need some sort of converter to convert it to a format that Honeycomb will like, such as .mp4 and/or H.264. I've had good luck with Foxreal DVD Ripper which converts my DVDs with no problem.
