Help my daughter achieve her dream!

My daughter's dream is to be an actress. She has a huge opportunity in July. She was selected as one of a handful of children to go to IPOP in Hollywood this summer. The problem is it will be very expensive for a week long stay and travel. I am reaching out to the Android community for any help that can be given will be greatly appreciated!

Here is more info about what IPOP is. Basically she will be performing in front of hundreds of agents and casting directors. She is an extremely talented singer for her age and also loves to act. I want to do everything I can to help her. She is one of the nicest, sweetest kids I have ever seen (not just saying that because I'm her Dad) and she never lets being sick hold her back from anything. She suffers from Crohn's disease and spends a lot of time sick and in pain. Through all of this she doesn't let anything get her down though.

I have really never done anything like this before and would appreciate any help or advice that anyone can offer. I need to raise a lot of money for this. I am attaching a link to donate to a paypal fund I have up for this.

Let me look around. I know in my area we have the Jimmy Fund and Hole in the Wall Gang that provides services for sick kids (my 17 yr old step son had leukemia from age 4 to 10 and you cannot believe what these places did for him and us, all clear now thank god:)). I will poke around and see if there are any scholarships / grants available for this type of thing.

You may also want to try reaching out to local community groups with fundraising experience like churches, elks, etc. to see if they have something available.

I think we are going to do a breakfast at Applebee's with a couple of the other parents. Applebee's actually has a pretty good fundraising breakfast program that they do.

She just got selected over the weekend so we are getting an early start with the fundraising to make sure we can help her accomplish her dream.

Any public stuff is cool, especially if videoed and put up on the various video sharing sites. ;)
 
All I'll say here is this: do a little research before you send cash to iPop or financially support iPop in any way. There are too many questions and complaints out there. I could see donating to the OP and his little girl, but as soon as iPop was mentioned, the bank is closed.

I hope your daughter keeps up her spirits and Crohn's is a terrible thing for a little girl to endure. What makes it worse is being taken advantage of. And so many people are scammed in this business one must carefully investigate. It would be truly sad to learn that you are just another victim.

So do a little research before you spend the time and effort seeking donations to give to any company involved in the talent business. So many are frauds.

I have done a lot of research and a lot of stars have actually started out their career at IPOP. Disney, Nickelodeon, MGM, record labels, etc all have agents that go to each IPOP convention. I personally know a couple of kids that have done tv commercials within months of being discovered by an agent at IPOP and one who has already been contracted for a role in the next Star Trek movie.

I am a very skeptical person by nature, but I have done a lot of research. If I had any doubts I would not be trying to make this possible for my daughter and would just explain that it was a scam.
