Help Help needed badly!

Hi,
Bought a socond hand desire on the weekend, stock.

so today after getting the 'low memory' ect warning, i rooted the desire.

Everything went smooth, but it went wrong when i installed another .zip file.

now its stuck loading at the HTC logo, i have read about, tried a few tutorials but nothing works.

I can still get in to hboot ect, and have tried to factory restore it with no luck:(

Help please?

check the specs for the rom you installed, does it mention an extended partition? If so have you partitioned your SD card? If it requires an extended partition and you don't have one that will stop it booting.

Other thing to try is just flashing the rom again. I recently had a rom that hung forever on first boot but I flashed it again and it was fine after that.

An RUU would probably sort you out, but then you would be unrooted again with the same low memory problems so that would be a last resort.

Did you take a full back up from recovery? If you did just restore that. Im guessing though that you didn't.

Did you do a full wipe (factory reset from recovery)? If you didnt just boot into recovery & select wipe data (factory reset). Your phone will probably boot now if the ROM is compatible with it (If ROM doesnt require ext Partition). System data doesn't migrate well from one ROM to another & neglecting to do a wipe is a common cause of booting problems.

If the above fails try another ROM. I recommend dGB because if anything will boot then dGB will. It may not be to your taste but it will test that the phone works.

Having done the above you will have either:

a) A working phone in which case you should read the Root Memory FAQ to address your memory issue.

b) A phone that doesn't boot in which case you should download an RUU from Shipped Roms. I recommend the official htc upgrade RUU as that should work with any GSM Desire. Follow these steps:

1) Download this .zip file (which is the Gingerbread upgrade) and extract the .exe inside to your Windows computer

2) Boot phone to fastboot (from off hold back and press power) and connect usb. Wait for "fastboot" on the screen to be displayed as "Fastboot USB" which signifies a connection

3) Run the RUU.exe from windows PC. Follow the On (Computer) screen instructions.
