[Help needed] How to root apad gl5201?

Hi all, I've bought some cheap china tablets called gl5201 and I need to root them..do anyone know how to do that?
Thanks for response

Blackjack, welcome to Android Forums :hello:

Tough question. I just searched Google for "gl5201 root" and this thread was the only relevant result. Hopefully somebody here will be able to get you headed in the right direction.

To be frank, don't think there's much you can do with it, except just use it as it comes. Like many of the thousands of different off-brand/no-brand 4.0 ICS devices now, there's just little or no information about them, even on Chinese forums.

You could try some of the rooting tools out there, NO guarantees though and you could well end-up bricking it.

Hi guys I've founded the correct adb driver for gl5201 tablet:

zip-attachment link: Download gl5201-adbdriver zip, fast and secure downloading from crocko.com

1) Enable Developer Mode in the tablet
2) Connect the tablet to PC and don't let it search drivers on windows update (it'll fail the search but don't worry)
3) Go to the devices list and choose to update/install the correct drivers
4) Extract the content of zip attachment on the Desktop and choose that folder for correct installation of the driver (you'll see "Android ADB Composite Interface"
5) Replace the default adb_usb.ini in your "%USERPROFILE%\.android" folder with the one inside the .android folder in the zip attachment link
6) The installation is now complete, now if you write "adb devices" you can see "Actions semi. device" and you can dmesg and logcat it directly from usb ;)

YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH GL5201 ROOOOTEEEEEEEED DD Here the guide and the files that you need:
0) Extract all the files from the zip attachment http://www65.zippyshare.com/v/6270908/file.html in a folder of your choice
1) adb install <pathtofilesextracted>\Superuser.apk
2) adb push <pathtofilesextracted>\busybox /sdcard/
3) adb push <pathtofilesextracted>\su /sdcard/
4) adb shell
5) type "su" and use the password "actions123" without commas, now you are logged as root user
6) mount -o remount,rw /
7) mv /system/xbin/su /system/xbin/oldsu (keep a backup copy)
8) cp /sdcard/busybox /system/bin/busybox
9) cp /sdcard/su /system/bin/su
10) chmod 06755 /system/bin/su
11) chmod 0755 /system/bin/busybox
12) ln -s /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su (here it says "error files exists" but go on..) ***
13) Install Root Explorer, it'll ask for root permissions...give it to it !
Aaaaaand...tablet rooted !

*** I followed the update_script from Novo 7 rooting procedure *** if someone has the exact solution (without error) for the step 10 these are the last two steps that gives the problem:

ui_print(" Creating SYSTEM:xbin/su symbolic link...");
symlink("/system/bin/su", "/system/xbin/su");
set_progress(0.800000);

ui_print(" Unmounting SYSTEM...");
unmount("/system");
set_progress(0.900000);

I hate to jump in late to the game, but I had a question.

I am on a mac, trying to root my gl5201..

I've tried to follow the directions posted here, but I cannot get it to see the tablet.

Any thoughts?
