Root HELP NEEDED WITH HTC BRAVO(original)

Hi guys, Newby to the forum :dontknow:
Was sent a link by a friend to see if anyone could help me.

Ok, not tech savy at all:confused: So all help is greatly appreciated :)

What I have-

HTC DESIRE Bravo,( old one.)
(I say old one because Ive been told theres a new Bravo out there now?)

Bought second hand, Due to being skint and needing a new hand set asap.
Brother in law advised to get this due to he has had one since they came out and cant fault the operating system. Bought Unlocked, But originally it was on 3 network. (given the startup logo and rom)

Spec-

ANDROID VERSION 2.2.2
BASEBAND VERSION 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14
KERNEL VERSION 2.6.32.15-GF5A401C
BUILD NUMBER 2.29.771.3 CL345089 release-keys
SOFTWARE NUMBER 2.29.771.3
BROWSER VERSION WebKit 3.1

WHAT I NEED.

What Ive found is, a great lack of memory space on the phone. soon as I download something i get that same old icon, low disc space. Been advised I need to ROOT it, an FLASH it with a new ROM.
I dont understand this language lol, I mean Im not docile when it comes to what it means. But I will admit, when Its over my capabilities. It could all go wrong very quickly, there looks to be a slim line to error. An I dont wanna be left with a paper weight.

So can any of you wonderful people help? I mean a step by step guide of how to do it would be amazing, But I know people may not be patient enough to type that. But as I said, all help very appreciated.......(and yes my grammar is atrocious) :D

Hi Live4drums

Towards the top of this forum you will find a sticky thread the "Desire All Things Root Guide". That contains a list of all the links you need. You will need to establish which version of Android you have in order to decide which guide to follow.

Everything you need is there. However if you are unsure cone back & ask before you proceed.

Okey doke, everything has been done. But I've come to realise that the firs Desire(mine) was also unfortunately the one with the least phone memory of its line, At the moment Im combating that with the use of a 16G sd card. Now I just need someone to please recommend me a ROM as Ive tried a few?, but they've been glitchy, crashed in use, freezing issues etc.

Do you like HTC Sense or would you prefer something a little different? I recommend keeping with 2.3 Gingerbread ROMs as the Desire hardware isn't really cut out for the later stuff.

Think Im going to do this then,
Its already taken me probably over 9 hours so far, Kind of want it sorting now lol
loosing my patience :o

Thanks for the Recommendation. I'll probably do it in about an hour (20:30).
See if there are anymore options that people wanna throw my way.
But It does sound like the plan of action ;)

The last Sense ROM I used on my Desire was Teppic74's Pre-rooted Stock Gingerbread (which was excellent) but the links in that thread is down. You will find copies in my Dropbox:

ROM

RADIO

APPS2SD script

You will need to partition your SD card to get more storage space. If you have 4EXT it will do this for you if you boot into recovery. Otherwise refer to the guides section & use Gparted. I recommend a 1GB EXT 4 partition.

Next you will need to fastboot flash the radio.img from the radio zip. Then flash the ROM (remember to do a full wipe) followed by the apps2sd script zip files from recovery.

Your rom is coming up out dated

message coming up when i try to install:
installing update....
amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
amend scripting was deprecated by google in android 1.5.
it was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the clockworkmod 3.0 gingerbread based recovery.
please switch to edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.

installation aborted.

Any further advice?

Ah, ok. It is a rather old file & I was using Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 when I flashed it. To get you going I would recommend Mildwild based on Redux2 from the XDA rom list. It is not a Sense rom but it gets excellent reports. Alternatively you could fastboot flash CWM 2.5.0.7 & try again.

Having given it some thought I can only see 2 options. Change recovery or change ROM.

Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 was the recommended recovery prior to 4ext & would still work in a very satisfactory way but lacks some features of 4ext.

I can't really recommend any other sense ROMs as teppic74's is the only one I have actually used. However Gingerwally produced a similar but stripped down ROM based on the stock gingerbread update.

If you would like a recommendation for an AOSP ROM I have tried a good number of those.

Cheers, Think its pretty much sorted now. Say pretty much because while running a program to delete crap I just dont need, I think I may of delete my Google Framework! *face palm* what a newb!
But I'll sort that tomorrow as everything I need is on my LT anyway.
Thanks again.

Reflasing the ROM zip will restore the system. It will replace uninstalled apps but you will need to reflash any other mods you made such as apps2sd scripts, themes, kernels or additional/updated apps.

Its always a good idea to do a full back up from recovery before doing anything to the system.
