Help Needed

I am new to all of this. I had an old iPhone. Lots of questions and looking for reliable and patient peeps. I am computer sava and not ignorant (although excuse any spelling errors). I have like 1 week left to decide rather to keep this Galaxy SII Skyrocket or grab the iPhone4s. I got unlimited everything and like to put it to good use. Doesnt seem like i get all my emails. Im thinkingbecause they arnt on a constant sync but still i dont get all the email that i have when i look on my computer. 2) batt life sucks. Any way to improve that? And last but not least ... rooting! Very interested in understanding. Like to be able to change it up but I also need it to work 80). Any comments welcome.
