Help Help! New tab hangs after update

I just bought the Galaxy Tab today, got it home, played with it a little, then decided to do the update (through settings, about..). It has been on the blue swirling screen that goes to "Samsung" for over 2 hours now. I just tried to turn it off and back on, same thing.

Any ideas? I haven't even set this thing up yet!

Called Samsung support, they were no help, she told me to power it down and restart, same thing. I just got this a few hours ago from Best Buy, not a good start :(

When I power down, the screen goes black, then (with button still pushed) shows 'Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1" before returning right back to the start up screen.

Another update. I tried powering down, and then different combinations of things. When I powered up by pressing power and volume-down (I think it's down, the key that rocks to the left) then I get the black screen with the green android. There's a white boxer with a small android with an arrow then a big green android that has a flashing box and says "downloading" underneath. Maybe it's stuck downloading? The battery had I think 50% when I started the update.

Found the hard reset, wiped cache and formatted data, still no dice.

Welcome to my world. My craptacular tablet crashed almost instantly after applying the update. Unless you purchased an in-store warranty, you're assed out. I personally lost 48 hours worth of work because my piece of s*** tablet crashed! Thank God I got the warranty and now I have shiny new iPad2. I hope that Apple continues to destroy this tablet.

Take it back right now and get anything but this dreadful excuse for a "tablet." Screw you Samsung.

Well, I exchanged it for another at Best Buy. Applying the update worked this time. After playing with it several hours last night, I'm really disappointed.

Just curious...what work would you be doing on the tablet? I can't imagine doing anything on there for work (I.e. spreadsheets, etc.). I only use the thing for entertainment and web surfing.

Why not? I certainly wouldn't be willing to spend that much on a tablet just for entertainment. I'm limited in my ability to use mine for work due to security restrictions, but I do plenty of homework on there, including using spreadsheets, writing papers, taking quizzes, etc.
