Help- new tablet and games shut down

Flipfer

Lurker
I purchased a Kobo Arc 10Hd to replace my dying Asus Transformer and games are really the main thing I do on the tablet.

It runs Android 4.2.2 so I would have assumed every games would work, but the 2 games I play the most, Dawn of the Dragons and Legacy of a Thousand Suns (both from 5th planet) refuse to start. They install properly and I get the initial splash screen but then it closes to Android. I installed from 3rd party sites and checked all I could think of but no go. I installed on my wifes Kobo Arc and they run just fine so I can't figure out why they won't run on my new tablet

Anyone have advice for me? I have over a year's worth of playtime that I would rather not lose.

Thanks in advance!

If they run on one tablet, but not another one of the same model, there's something wrong with the tablet, and if it's new it's still under warranty, so ask for an exchange.

If the two aren't the same model, the games may just not run on that tablet - different processor, different memory layout, something else that's different between them.

That's why it's better to download from Play - there may be a few versions of an app - different hardware, different screens, different versions of Android - and Play will install the right one for your device (more often than just downloading the apk from a 3rd party site will).

Thanks Rukbat , it isn't the same tablet, but same company. You would expect though compatibility now on more tablets. Jelly Bean isn't that old of a version of Android and the hardware is recent.

I did get it off Play too, same issue. I asked on a deal forum if someone could install it on the same tablet if someone has it- can always ask the same here. If someone with the Kobo Arc 10HD would install the game to try, I'd appreciate it.

Otherwise I'll bring it back and buy another tablet- this one just happened to be the best price to spec by far.
