Help - No MP3 Downloader Available?

yolky

Newbie
I'm completely unable to find any mp3 music downloader program for my 3vo. I'm quite surprised I couldn't find anyone else mentioning this issue, here or on the web. There seemed to be an over-abundance of these programs available for the Evo 4G but oddly I cannot find one for the 3vo. Can someone provide any information about this, and if they have a downloader available, provide a link or some way to install it? Thanks!

Come on brotha... I wouldn't post useless dribble. There are NONE available. I even tried using my appbrain to install a previous mp3 downloading program I had on my 4G and it says "the requested item could not be found". This message also occurs when I google all sorts of android mp3 d/l programs on the PC to try to grab a download link from full websites.

I'd appreciate if you could keep my thread available in the Evo 3D forum as I believe this to be specific to the 3D.

It's not specific to the 3vo, it's specific to Google removing apps that allow and/or promote piracy.

If that's what you've been doing, you need to get with the times. There's an action with the feds right now to make that a mandatory 10 years in a federal penitentiary for server operators (and already one guy pulling the full 10 as of his rapid conviction this year), there's the Pirate Bay ops now begging for legal fees (the guys who would never be stopped because they were off-shore, remember them?) and each and every day, people are being hit with fines above $40k or settlement packages above $20k, screaming all the way, Why me, why me? Everybody does it.

And if you weren't talking about music piracy, then thanks for letting me use this thread to raise awareness on it anyways.

That was likely removed for being illegal or containing malware, both of which have happened on those "MP3 downloader" type programs.

What you download is your own business -- I'm not here to preach :)

But be very, very careful about the permissions.

I found only one (MP3 Music Downloader) on the market's website and when I tried to download it, got a message saying "could not install on your device" and if I search this app on the market through my EVO, it's not even listed on the market...

I can confirm that... There are NONE available for the EVO 4G.

I'm well aware of music piracy laws etc. I'm a DJ and promote paying for music. I'm also a huge fan of 'open source' and is the main reason why I chose and android phone. To the other posters confirming the same issue I ran into, thank you.

I'll be patient for another developer to make said app.

I'm saying I've seen them take down those apps for malware, so if you see that it isn't avaible, then it is a good thing you didn't install it :)

This isnt only EVO users seeing this, people come in here and complain about these apps all the time. Google takes them down and they pop up again with thousands of fake reviews in a matter of days. Same app, slighty different developer name, slightly different app name.

I'll be patient for another developer to make said app.
Just be careful, and watch the permissions closely :)

If you see something like "INSTALL PACKGES" stay very, very far away.

I like Grooveshark. Normally you stream music to your phone, but with the paid version you can also download music to your phone for whatever tracks you choose. They call it "make the music available offline". Great for places where you don't want to use data connection, like when you are abroad.

Interesting, I used a program called ringtone mp3. Had it since the release of the Droid in late 2009. I noticed when I used applist backup to reinstall my apps to the ev3 it was not in the market. It does download mp3 music and has a built in player but I have been using it to create ringtones from existing music.

I have a backup of it and reinstalled it from that. Is their potential liability from just having the app on your phone?

I dont think you should be worried, but if you want to create ringtones check out RingDroid, it's free and open source.
