Help Help! No Sound!!!

Newbie
So I've had my current Galaxy Nexus since Dec. 31. I ordered the XO screen protector, and per its instruction, I turned off the unit and took the battery out before I installed the screen protector. After then install, I set it down for about 2 hours to let it dry (since it's a wet application). I finally installed the battery and turned the unit back on, only to find out that I don't get any sound when playing trying to play videos on youtube or listing to music on any audio app. I went into "sound" in settings and am able to hear all the ringtones and notification tones but can't hear any music or audio from any videos. Additionally, I can't hear anything when making a phone call. I tried switching to speakerphone while on a call and I can hear the person on the other line but I don't think they can hear me.

I'm on stock ICS and am NOT rooted. Is my Nexus busted? :(

2 hours is not enough time for it to dry, if water did manage to seep into the phone. The instructions recommend 8 hours. If there was moisture on any electrical components, as soon as you added power (battery) and turned it on, you could have caused water damage. Electricity + Water = bad joo joo.

Just remember if you send it back for warranty replacement, and they find water damage inside, they could charge you for the replacement phone.

It could be a big coincidence and unrelated to the screen install, though.

Those were just the first things that came to my mind.

if you do send it back... 1st thing you want to do is make sure beyond any doubt that the contacts where the batter touches are completely clean, they check that, then that there is nothing under the screen... other then that.. you could tell them your symptoms at VZW and while they are talking to you ask them how they determine it. on my old phone they told me they really dont look at those white DOTS they used to put on them. they told me they look at the batter contacts to see if there is rust on them or deterioration from water. but who knows how they treat these phones..

but Orange is right. 2 hours is not enough time any time i soaked mine.. 24 hours it sat before i powered it on

I took the battery out afterwards and let it sit over night. When I powered it on in the morning, it was working again. I guess I should've let it dry longer. I did set it in front of a personal heater on low to help the drying process after the install and i did check before installing the battery to make sure there wasn't any moisture on the contacts. Thanks for your inputs.
