Root Help on getting S-OFF

So I unlocked my phone about a year ago and put MeanBean on it. Well now I'm itching to try a new ROM. In all honesty, I was itchin awhile ago, but have been frustrated by the S-ON. Should have done S-OFF from the get go.

So I have Team Win recovery and running MeanBean. When I go to the recovery, the Team Win is non-responsive and I have to reboot my phone.

My end goal is to have a be S-OFF and a working recovery to backup properly.

I am reading up on the stickies, but am green when it comes to rooting and what all needs to happen.

Can someone please help guide me through this process to get S-OFF? I see there are several S-OFF methods in the sticky. Also, any ROM recommendations are appreciated. Would like to try something minimal and quick.

I would be happy if I could get TWRP to work, because there are other S-ON Roms out there. But it's completely non responsive. If anyone has any tips on that, that would suffice.

After doing some more reading, going from S-ON to S-OFF sounds like it doesn't have a high success rate.

Sorry, haven't been around much lately.

We've had a very high success rate going to s-off.

Where do things stand for you now?

I believe he needs to use Rumrunner, but I need to verify.
