Help! Phone died and sending it back!

My Galaxy started giving me an info message "battery disconnected" and will not connect with my computer. It will still charge, but drains faster and doesn't recognize that a charger is connected to it. I tried every solution on the internet (new battery, original charger, clean terminals, clean usb etc) and nothing worked. I also tried every software option including going all the way back to unrooted gingerbread. I called samsung and they acknowledged that it is still under warranty and that I can send it back. SO, I am rooted and using "Touched By S4 version 2.0 GB27 Jelly Bean Deodexed for the Epic 4G Touch SPH-D710". I don't want Samsung to wiggle out of the warranty because it is rooted. What is the best way to remove all trace of any changes and return to stock? Thanks.

When u flash to that boost stock ROM doesn't it already reset the flash counter? Otherwise...

TriangleAway is a root app. So u need to be rooted to use it. If you use it on your rooted ROM (the rom you are coming from) to reset the counter and the new stock ROM didn't come with a reset counter, when you do flash the stock boost ROM it would say that the flash count was 1, and you wouldn't be able to then use triangleaway to reset back to 0 because you are no longer rooted and the app wouldn't work.

I'm pretty sure when u flash it through Odin it will be back to 0.

I'am not sure but I don't think mobil odin will trigger the triangle, only pc odin will.

So he will have to use triangle away to reset counter then flash the stock rom posted on post #2 via mobile odin.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

If that's not the case then he will have to go back to stock and temporary root (framaroot is good) after going back to stock. use triangle away reset counter and unroot (again framaroot has an option to unroot) no need custom repack kernel.

I'am not sure but I don't think mobil odin will trigger the triangle, only pc odin will.

If that is the case then he would just reset the counter to zero on the rooted ROM before flashing to stock unrooted ROM thru mobile odin. If its true that mobile Odin doesn't add to the flash counter, then it should remain zero coming from old ROM with counter at zero.

I think it gets set back automatically though either thru mobile Odin or just PC odin when going to stock unrooted ROM.

Its late. Someone smarter on the subject will chime in in the morning I'm sure.

I never had to go back to stock unrooted. so yea maybe some else have a better option for him and hopefully going back to stock unrooted will reset counter as will.

According to Kevincott in his tutorial Return to Boost Stock ( http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...-root/621393-tutorial-return-boost-stock.html ), in the first post, he says using PC Odin resets the flash counter.

1. Install Kies (has Samsung drivers)

1a. If you have a custom Recovery tool, do a factory wipe

2. Press and hold vol- and power until you reach the prompt, then hit vol+

3. Run Odin

4. Load MD5 into PDA slot

5. Start

This erases Root, yellow triangle, and AGAT/CWM: straight up stock.

edit: Make sure the MD5 is unzipped (7-Zip).

Thanks for everyone's advice. I think everyone is aware, but using PC Odin is not an option because my computer and phone cannot communicate through usb. I have been able to run a .tar file with mobile odin. Is there a way to see what my count is before I unroot, and is there a way to verify it again after it is unrooted? Also what is the best way to ensure that my data is successfully wiped?

To see binary counts?

Turn off your device then press and hold volume down key and power button at the same time, this will bring you to download mode, then press the volume up key just like if you were going to download a custom os

At the top of the screen you should see:
Odin mode
Product name: sph 710
Custom binary download: no
Current binary: samsung official

Again this is what you should have on a stock device.

To exit odin mode press and hold power key.

This can be done before and after you unroot your device.

To ensure data wipe? Factory reset is the answer.
