Help Help..... phone is stuck at nexus loading "x" and will not proceed from there

So I have been having difficulty with my Verizon gnex charging over the last month. Not sure if its the port or the battery. The phone didn't charge last night. And now it will not load past the rainbow X for hours now.

My phone is stock Verizon gnex. 4.2.2 jellybean. Need help as now I don't have a working phone.

Will it boot into recovery - hold both volume buttons when powering on. If it will then try a factory reset
