Help Help Phone keeps restarting

Lurker
my phone keeps restarting, every time I turn the screen off it restarts and ever time I try to wake it up it restarts. If I try to turn it off it restarts. I have tried all the tricks I have read, I have tired a new SD card, I reset it to factory default, I have formatted the USB storage and the SD card. NOTHING has worked.

Here is all the info on the phone:
model: SPH-D710
Version: 2.3.6
baseband version: S D710.10 S.EL29
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EL29-CL852097
build number: GINGERBREAD.EL29
Hardware: D710.10

Any tips or fixes on this issue would be great.

Thanks

Your phone sounds pretty borked. Take it to a Sprint store and see if they can fix it. If not, they will replace it for you most likely.

My phone is rebooting on its own about two times a day for no reason all of the sudden. I'm thinking it may have to do with ICS. Anyone else having this issue?

There is talk about this being a hardware issue at xda developers. Mine, reboots everytime I change the battery. I am currently on gingerbread. You can reboot without the sd card- mine reboots normally, but then when I insert it, it reboots. Maybe a hardware The only way it limits the reboot is if I turn off wifi when it is rebooting. Get more info at xda.

Mine started doing that after the ICS upgrade. A factory reset fixed it. It hasn't rebooted once on its own after the factory reset.

i had this problem too among many others and i walked into the sprint store and the guy said he would order me a new phone :)

Will a 'Factory reset' make my phone unrooted? (and do I do this "reset" with the micro SDCard still mounted?)

Yes, a factory reset will unroot your phone, and return it to a factory state. You can do it with or without the SD card mounted. The FR doesn't affect your SD card. Personally though, if it was me, I would take it out just to be safe.

mine is when streaming via bluetooth to my sony car stereo, no other time though.

Update: after the second "repair" OTA update, it still was having problems. i called sprint, they said to take it in to the store again. they looked at it, tested it with multiple bt devices. They think that the BT version/software in the car stereo and the updated BT software in my phone are not compatible now and thats what is causing the problem. i wasnt sure about that, but I called Sony's car audio tech department and they have had people call about this issue and they concur. cannot update the head unit either, i will just have to settle with using the usb drive or AUX if i want music out of my phone(until i get a newer car stereo, but that will be when i get a different car probably). thanks for your help folks.
