Lurker
Hello all,

I am wanting to buy a nexus 5 when they come out and wanted advice on carriers as I feel in love with my nexus 7 tablet. Right now I have a iPhone with att that I have had for 4 years and its the only carrier I have ever used. The cost monthly and the fact that the signal is so bad I have to stand by the window to get a call is making me switch now that my contract is over. I was thinking straight talk but have been reading so many bad things about data caps. My signal is so bad now that I don't know how much I would ever use with a good signal to figure out how much I would need. I only plan on youtube the internet and games for the phone as far as the data goes. Can anyone help me picking the right carrier please. I want to stay around 50 or 60. Right now I pay over 100 for limited phone and unlimited data but like I said the signal is so bad I only ever can use the internet on wifi. Thank you very much for all your help.

ST still uses AT&T Towers, so basically you would still be on AT&T with a cheaper price and data cap

I have switched my wife to AIO Wireless which also uses AT&T towers, You would also not need to change your phone, as your IPhone would work, once you got the unlock code from AT&T, we have had no issues to date, and are travelling at the moment and have not missed a beat, they have an Unlimited text, talk and data up to 2GB then capped data @ 3G for $55, which is what the wife is using, and they also and a $70 unlimited with a 7 GB data then capped @ 3G.

Now if you are looking at getting away from AT&T, then you can try a different carrier, like TMO, Sprint, Ting, Metro PCS, etc... which offer cheaper rates then AT&T. Hope this helps. ;)

If you're not getting good reception with AT&T, then the chances that moving to Sprint, T-Mobile or any MVNO based on AT&T/Sprint/T-Mobile improving things is slim. AT&T has the second largest network in the country, so moving to a smaller one probably won't work out well. Your only option may be Verizon, but they won't have the Nexus 5. So it comes down to what you value more, the coverage or the phone.

Thank you all for the help. I called att to cancel they lowered my text messaging to 10 a month and I cut down on min it got me to 75 with taxs. The man told me they would give me a free microcell but then he had to get tech support and they said they could not do it and would call me back after they submitted a ticked. The man said our location is loaded with microcells due to reception. I really want a good phone with no contract. I might end up having to cave in and buy the damn micro cell. Its so close to them getting ready to sell the nexus 5 and I know they sell out quick whenever it does go on sale so just don't know what to do. The att service is so bad now it would be wasting money to buy the nexus 5 and stay with att without a microcell. I don't think any of the Verizon carriers have 4g lte except Verizon itself and Verizon is the only carrier I have looked at that has coverage for my area.
