Hey, newbie here. it seems my phone cannot correctly go into clockwork recovery mode, whenever i try (i've done it manually, quickboot, and rom manager - all give same thing) i get something which looks different from the rest of you. it has only 5 options, all in blue text. These say reboot system now, apply sdcard:update.zip:, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, and format internal sd card. Also, on the top of the screen it doesnt say clockwork recovery, even though i have flashed it multiple times, it just says android system recovery <3e>. Help please?

Would you share a bit more info please? What is your system setup like right now? Rooting, ROM, and any other custom stuff.

For info there are several versions of clockwork floating around. Where did you get yours from? I would suggest looking for a link from imnuts over on xda. His version works well from what I have seen and with better results than the market version when using the charge.

Let me know... I am betting it is your download source.

well actually... i tried to flash clockwork via odin and now my phone cannot turn on. it gets stuck on the samsung boot screen, i did have it get past there, and my phone booted fine, but when i tried going into recovery it got stuck again, even when i try to boot normally

The blue recovery is stock recovery. Most likely you flashed CWR and didn't flash a new kernel. As such, the stock kernel just put the stock recovery back into place.

Considering where you are now, I would just try to flash the phone with a complete ROM via Odin. Whether you use stock ED1, rooted EE4, or one of the customs is up to you.

Thanks. Used odin to flash to a rooted rom, all went well, except my phone got stuck in the droid eye boot logo. i put it into recovery and wiped the data/facotry reset and works fine now. Gonna restore once i get market up and running

OK.. now for my original question. now that everything is up and runing, why am i not able to get my phone to go to CWM when i boot into recovery? makes it impossible to flash certain roms...

Answering your question again: If you don't flash a custom kernel after flashing CWM (before a full boot), the stock kernel will re-install the stock recovery, which is the blue one you were seeing.

After seeing all your posts it would appear you are at a very early stage of the "getting ready to ROM" process. You will need to be rooted with the right kernel, then have superuser (updated from within the app), voodoo, and clockwork off the top of my head to be ready.

You will need to make sure you are on the right build before flashing each ROM. This includes everything from Themes to the antennas on your phone. If one piece is missing you may not get the desired results causing force closes, glitches, or other problems to include no ability to talk with the cell towers.

There are many posts on many forums that include most of the items you will need. You can run around and collect up the appropriate ones based on your individual needs or just flash a copy that has everything.

I have made vids to avoid the need to collect up this info and get you running. Basically you will root with an older method via odin which contains all the other pieces to lead you to the next step. Then find GummyCharge 1.9 and flash that the same way via odin. From there you can move on to say GummyCharge 2.1 over Gingerbread and theme with whatever you like. Or move on to Humble as those are the leaders right now.

Hope that helps. I guess the most important thing for you right now is to keep reading as you seem to be missing some important steps. Look for post about how to root, how to use clockwork/voodoo, etc... Once you get it down it will become second nature. I flashed a full ROM and reloaded everything while going down the highway on a road trip. It really is that easy once you get all the silly terms down.

Hi kraisydave,
Love your posts! Reason I'm writing: Please tell me you weren't driving when you flashed the ROM and reloaded "while going down the highway on a road trip"!!! LOL
