Root Help please - bricked

Hi everyone,

after googling the whole internet and searching the forums for a solution for my problem i come to ask for your help.

Three days ago i screwed up when restoring a backup, now my phone is stuck at the initial "Galaxy S GT-I9000 Samsung" screen.

I can get to the recovery mode, tried factory reset but no luck, still the same problem.

I dont have a ROM at the sdcard so i can't flash with CWM.

So i tought, Ok, let's try with Odin then. Got the phone to download mode, but when i connect to my laptop, windows dont recognize my device, e put it as a Unknown device in the Device Manager, Odin dont recognize it too. Looking for a solution i downloaded the AndroidSDK 1.5 to try to connect via ADB with the android_usb driver.
(image attached)

I Followed the instructions to point the Unknown Device to the android_usb driver, i have Windows 7 - 32 bit (Image attached)

But when i select the driver i get this error. "The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for 32-bit-systems"

I have no ideia where can i go from here, i tried everything, from booting the laptop and phone, from installing samsung usb driver, removing and re-installing kies, but no of these actions had any results.

If anyone could help i would be very grateful, im kinda lost.

Thanks guys.

When you go into recovery mode, do a wipe cache partition as well as a wipe data/factory reset, do 1 after the other.

you are using android's driver , you need the galaxy S driver
also , if you can go to recovery and you actually have CWM, then you can flash from sd card

chose the flash a zip file from sd card then navigate to /sdcard/sd (for eclair 2.1) or /sdcard/external_sd/ (for froyo)

to enter a folder , navigate with volume keys and enter with the power button then select using the back button

Edit: just noticed that you tried to use the samsung driver, maybe you didn't do it correctly ?
go to "devices and printers" and you should see "unknown device", right click -> properties and you can update the driver from there , chose that then tell it that you will tell it where the driver is , go to the folder and give it the folder (the folder where the drivers are at , not the driver file)
and , are you sure you got 32bit ? maybe you have 64bit and need the 64bit driver

Hello Jimmar,

i cant flash from the external_sd with CWM, the ROM must be at the internal sdcard, i tried what you said cause i have Darky 9.0.2 im my external sd, but when i choose zip from sdcard and navigate to the folder where the ROM is and press the power button to select, CWM says it found no files.

As far as the drivers, im sure i have 32 bit system, i tried to install the driver, check the images i attached please, i guess thats what im supposed to be doing right ?

Thanks for your time

can you get into download mode

if you can download these drivers to use with odin it worked for me after my phone was bricked and my pc didnt reconise the phone

32bit

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOB...dows-x86.shtml

63bit

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOB...dows-x64.shtml

when you flash with oding you will need stock firmware to put back on your phone

Hello andy-roid,

i tested these driver also, now i have a question, should i just execute the installer and after the installation is finished plug the phone, or after plugging the phone i still need to point the driver to the device ?

Thanks

Install the driver first if the phone is bricked by darkys rom you.need to go back to stock rom as mine was bricked by darkys I now stay stock as there's too many bugs in his roms

I did installed the driver first, but nothing changes, i downloaded a stock rom to flash with odin, but i cant get this phone to be recognized by windows, im kinda losing hope.

That's strange. So no driver installing message comes up when you plug in your phone in with download mode activated? Can you try this on another computer?

you use the power button to go inside folders , when you reach your ROM file (the zip file) use the back button to select it not the power button

and weird , using those drivers should've worked :S

i Just plugged the phone and got this that i attached on the image, but none devices showed by windows.

Now even plugged it keeps plugging and unplugging itself, windows beeps for usb connection comes and goes every 30 seconds or so.

This started to happen after i put my external sd back on the phone
