Help help please! new galaxy precedent key pad lock feature not working & home & search soft key not work

Megan Jo

Please please somebody help!!! I have been dealing with this issue for couple days now. Suddenly, my phone stopped receiving text messages, said I didn't have room or something like that..so I deleted & re starred phone & after lil whole I started getting my texts..but, noticed that I could no longer lock my screen, even after I set out up in my serums..nope screen will not lock.
Now...this next issue is totally driving me crazy! That same night I started dealing with my screen/keypad lock not working, my house shaped home "soft key" & my magnafier search "softkey" ya know...located on the outside front of the phone. So when I am on the Web or whatever, I have to hit the back key over & over to get back to my home screens. Its horrible. My back arrow & my lil menu settings key work. This sucks really bad. I've had this phone 2wks & I cannot afford to just go out & but a new one. Any tips for me?? Please!! Thank you!!

Wow! Still nothing!!.beginning to think I'm the only one to ever experience these issues..ugh Idk what to do!! :-(

You could try a factory reset or use davew41's rooted factory ROM in the link below, just follow the read me in the zip file.

You can also download it here...

Thanks for replying :-) appreciate it. I'm not sure what a "factory reset" is... & definitely not sure what the "rooted" factory reset is..but willing to try anything. Anything major I need to know about this whole rooting thing before I click on the link??

A factory reset will put the phone back to how it was when it can out of the box, so any apps you downloaded, accounts and contacts will be wiped. You will want to do this if you have to replace the phone because of a hardware problem.

Rooting with davew41's files will also wipe the phone and give the user "root" access on the phone. If anything is messed up in Android the operating system this should take care of it.

Did anything work?? my phone is having the same exact problem and i was thinking about a factory reset but since i go thru straight talk i didnt know if a factory assignment would take away my minutes for the month or my phone number and completely deactivate my phone

buicebaby,

You're cross-posting to a bunch of threads on the same issue. As I mentioned the other thread (and for others who have the same issue but don't see my answer over there), no, you won't lose your minutes or your phone number by doing a factory reset. You will lose anything you've done to the phone since day one though.
