Help Help, please! Update stuck!

My 92 year old Dad got his free Nexus 7 with his Times and Sunday Times digital subscription. I have been slowly teaching him, as best I can, to use it. I didn't update it straight away, but tapped the update bit on the notification bar tonight. It seems to be stuck on the "Google" word you get on startup. Does it usually take a long time or should I be worried? It doesn't take anywhere near this long on my Nexus 4!

Oh, and I plugged it in to charge so it doesn't run out of battery!

I have managed to sort it. Was concerned about it staying like that for so long and Dad was getting very agitated! I eventually found the answer elsewhere. Everything is fine now!
