Hi guys, looks like you have a great site here! Heres my problem-i just got a Google Nexus 7 tablet,i also have a Galaxy s2 phone with the google play app and all my music. I thought once i fired up the tablet all content would be transfered from my phone but it hasnt happened and i just cant figure out how to get my music from my phone to the new tablet or if its possible(other than downloading phone to pc and pc to tab). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

My experience is that content isn't transferred automatically from one device to another. I don't have experience with music, but I do know that apps will automatically be restored to a device (if wiped, repaired, swapped, ect.), but not to a different device on the same account. All purchased items should be available to any device on the account, but you will need to download them again via the play store.

Welcome to Android Forums! (aka AF)

I think I can help ya out here because I've got 3 devices all running with Google Play Music and linking up to the same account. First make sure you've got the same account registered on each device. Specifically make sure the one you used on your phone is on your Nexus 7.

Open up Play Music and click the drop down next to the headphones in the upper left and you should see a list of available music. You should be able to choose Recent, Albums, Artist...etc and at the bottom should have choices of "All Music" and "On Device Only" Choose All Music to see if anything shows up.

If it doesn't, then go into the Play Music app and hit the 3 verticle dots and go into the settings menu. Make sure Music is connected to that account, uncheck "Hide Unavailable Music" to make sure you can see all of your music, hit refresh for good measure.

Let me know if that works, because it should.

Thanks For the welcomes guys, unfortunately still no dice. When I hit the all music all it shows is the few songs I have downloaded and what came pre installed on the tablet. And I did uncheck the hide box. Let me add I'm not very tech savvy but the two just don't seem to be hooking up

How did you put the music on the SGS2? If you simply copied files, it wouldn't show up on the N7. You would need to upload your music to Google music to be able to share it across all devices, but then remember you are going to be streaming it from the cloud.

I downloaded most if not all from the tunee music app. I'm sorry guys but what is this cloud I keekeep hearing about.....think I have a lot to learn:(

Ah, I see the problem. You need to go upload your music to Play Music site. Then it will automatically sync across any device with your Play Music app.

The operative term is "downloaded". What it looks like you did was simply copy the files so they only exist for your use on your S2.

"The Cloud" is a general term for anything hosted away from your device and accessed via some sort of networking technology. You can have a small private "cloud" where you have a storage device in your house that multiple devices can access simultaneously. Google's "cloud" covers the planet and uses internet access to let you get to your content.

Sorry, I don't use Google music, so I couldn't tell you. Somebody esle should be able to fill you in.

I think for initial setup you have to upload songs from the PC to Google Music unless you buy the music from Google Play Music store. I'm not 100% sure though.
