Root HELP please..

I spent ages on my htc wildfire S trying to root!. The crux of it the software unlockroot.exe says it is rooted but Titanium BACKup app says No and Root validator app says NO... arghh
So i have clockwork mod recovery access and superuse jb 4.2 ROM and but am stuck.

Phone appears to working fine but not rooted.

Ultimately I am trying to make more memory available for apps and use the 8 Gb sd card installed.

Where am i going wrong I successfully unlocked the bootloader via HTC website and put in code. installed CWM, and have just recovered a previous back up.
Also Superuser says no root access!!

The software i'm using is unlockroot.exe on a win7 laptop, it says the device is already rooted.
 
Hi Jacko and welcome to Android Forums!

I suppose my first question would be whether you have Super User in the app drawer. SuperSU is another option. It's a root controller that maintains a database of which apps you've granted root access to.

yes I also have super user... but dunno what to do with it. If you can move it to the right forum that would be great. Can you give me the link?

IS it something to do with the PG76DIAG file? Although I can't find this...

Please anyone any good with this stuff
 
I used disciplexone rom and this seems to have worked. As well as properly partitioning the sd card as per his instructions regarding fat32, ext4 and swap, reinstalled and now rooted.....yay. apps linking to sd card. So just have to explore full power of root now and get this phone loaded and working fast!! Thanks all for responses anyway. perseverance is the key!!
