Root Help please

Hi, I just got my G300.

I want to unlock the phone and remove/vodaphone stuff/get ICS, which order should I do these and which versions? I've ordered a memory card and have an unlock code ready to use.

Also is there a recommended guide?, the ones at Modaco seem to cause some people some problems which often go unanswered, or are these OK?

The official ICS upgrade is... how shall i put it. 'incredibly disapointing'. so if you want a decent ics experience then you're going to be looking at a custom rom. And if you are looking at a custom rom, then reading around the threads aren't going to do you any harm.
