I am trying to make Tasker speak a phrase when a certain contact phones.

I can get it to start working when the contact phones but, as soon as the person's caller ID screen appears and the default ringer begins, the message immediately stops?

Any ideas please how I could make this task work?

Thank you
Norm

Hi and thank you for taking the time to reply.

what device are you using?

I am using a Samsung Mega.

summary of the profile

Basically the profile looks for a call from the particular contact I am using.
Then, if it sees a call coming from that contact, it speaks the message I programmed.

Problem is that the message starts to play but, immediately the ringer starts and the caller ID window comes up, the message cuts off after just starting.

Thank you

Thank you for the additional information :)

Is it just a single contact that you want to have the spoken message for? In that case, you may be better off recording the message you want and just assigning it as a ringtone for that contact.

What Event/State is your Profile checking for to activate the Task? Since "Phone Ringing" is an Event, you'll probably want to use a minimum of two profiles - one to detect that the phone is ringing and start saying the message, and another to detect when the call is answered (Event: Phone - Off Hook) and make the first profile shut up. You can use this as a guide; the main difference for a single contact would be in Step 4 of the first Profile: change the If statement to check "If %CNAME Matches *ContactNameHere*".

Yes I am using "Phone ringing"

As far as the 2nd profile to detect when the phone is off hook, it does not get to that stage as the text needs to start as soon as the incoming call is detected.

Of course, at the same time, caller id starts which cancels the Task out.

I know ur right about the recorded ring tone as the easy answer.

This was only, for me, only a learning experiment to further my experience with Tasker:)

Thanks again
