Help please!!!!!

In need of some help please
I'm generally new to android

I recently purchased an android tv box with preinstalled XBMC.
It was working fine for the first month or so but as of this morning, whenever I went to open ANY application, it would open, give me a black screen for about a second then close the app and return me to then menu

So I decided to factory reset my android tv box, following the manual, and reinstalled XBMC once it had done so. It was all fine until I turned my box off and on again only to discover everytime the box is turned off and back on XBMC is no longer there and the box seems to be in its fresh original state, as if it was bought new, giving me a welcome screen etc.

Someone please help, I'll greatly appreciate it

Thank you in advance

Welcome to Android Forums. :)

There are many "Android TV's" out there. Could you please provide us with the make and model of yours? Also, do you know what version of Android it is running?

I may still be of no use with that information, but anyone who can help will probably need to know at minimum which Android TV you are using.

Okay, so I looked around on the DroidPlayer website and came across this page:
Complete update/re-install to our latest Android firmware for the DroidPlayer Box | Droidplayer

There are also two videos to walk you through the same steps:
Complete Reset of Droidplayer MX2 Android Firmware - YouTube
Backup and Restore XBMC Data Folder on Android Device - YouTube

The second video shows you how to restore your xbmc settings after the factory reset.

And if your settings are missing or just in case you need it, alternatively you can restore the default xbmc settings after a factory reset:
Reinstall XBMC Configuration Folder on DroidPlayer Android Box | Droidplayer

I would try the whole thing, starting with the first video and performing another reset, and then installing xbmc again. Then follow the second video (or last link) and try to get xbmc working properly after re-installing it.

Let us know how it goes after this, hopefully all will be good!!

Edit:
If all else fails, you may try the factory images as a last resort.

Tried all this mate 😟 still failing. The box either gets stuck on the boot screen or when it loads xbmc is missing and the box starts up as if its new

Dang.. I'm not really sure what else to try. I'll ask around and see if I can find anyone that has any other ideas.

Hi,

its mx2 box aka G-Box MX2 or its clone. Problem with new boxes these days is that company modified pcb in a way of changing nand/wifi module. Since box boots from nand if you flash wrong bootloader on it (old mx2 firmwares don't support new nand) you will brick your box. Try to contact your supplier for replacement or further support. Recovery is possible (with right firmware) but tricky...

Hi I have an mx box and was working away ok for the past few weeks. Then today showbox , playstore, Internet and few other apps don't open.they go to a black screen and return to the home screen..then other apps like mobdro and hd cinema still work. Any ideas?
