I have always plugged my phone into my computer at my office to charge it during the day. All has been fine, until yesterday. I now get a message when I go to use my camera "Turn off USB storage before using camera". I also get this message when I go to view my Gallery - "SD card is being used as a mass storage device". I did not change any settings on my phone and cannot get this to go away. I have been to my AT&T dealer as well as called in to a "Droid support" telephone number and no one can give me an answer on how to make this go away so I can use my camera and access my gallery again.

Hello and Welcome to Android Forums! :)

What kind of phone do you have and what version of Android is it running? That will help us figure out what's going on and hopefully be able to give you specific directions how to fix it.

I have a captivate glide. I have powered off - taken everything out - left powered down overnight - and still the same.

Do you have an SD card in it? It's behaving like you mounted it as a removable drive and didn't unmount it cleanly leaving it in a locked state.

You could try plugging it into your PC and if you can still mount it to see files, then go to the USB icon in your taskbar on your PC, click on it and select eject [device name]. See if that fixes it.

i do have an SD card in it. my SD card shows up on my computer but i cant see my pictures and music on my computer even with the SD card mounted. i tried hooking my phone up to it but my phone doesnt register on my computer anymore.

So it doesn't matter if the SD card is in or out of the phone? You still can't see any files?

pretty much but my SD card was working fine before i plugged up my phone and now neither my phone or the SD card are working like they are supposed to.

Make sure your USB is set to charge only on the phone. It cannot use the SD while connected in storage mode.

The Captivate slide is a pretty old device so it's probably running an older version of Android. In older version, the option didn't show up unless the phone was enabled as a storage device.
