Root (Help) Porting NFC to The Rize

K Rize

Android Enthusiast
Last night I tried to see if I could possibly port NFC (near field communication) to the Rise.
in my attempt, i managed to unsucessfuly find a way to actively turn NFC on from the some chip
i downloaded these files - http://db.tt/pMvOo0qR moved them to the corresponding folder and fixed permissions accordingly.
i rebooted, whet to setting and got this Screenshot_1.png
nothing worked so i downloaded nfc checker and got this Screenshot_2.png
if u have any ideas or advice on turning or activate nfc on this device.

! proceed with caution!

now i say that because i woke up this morning to my phone flashing this at the top of the screen Screenshot_3.png.
i removed all the files and rebooted and it stopped flickering.

i think that i don't have all the correct files installed, permissions not set correct, and or i just fail to activate nfc from the chip. please help

p.s. all of this was done on stock rom

Does the implementation of our chipset support NFC?

What I mean is best shown by example. I also have a gtablet, it's based off a malata ztab which can have a SIM card and GPS. My gtab has all the places for this hardware but it's just not populated on the board. In the case of GPS it's as easy as the GPS chip and a couple resistors.

My thought is maybe our chipset can do NFC but it's disabled in hardware, perhaps by a missing jumper or resistor.

I guess we'll never know until we tear one apart. Maybe I'll go ahead and open up my other Rise and flash the bootloader for the c5156. If it bricks, I'll open it up. :D

Yeah, I don't know if the phone has any of the hardware for NFC. It's definitely not on any NFC device lists. daily expanding list of NFC Phones | nfc-phones.org
My A100 has a sim card slot, but the module is not there. It may be possible to trick the OS into thinking nfc is there, but without the proper chipset and a nfc antenna it's not going to do anything.
