So I have only had the Avant for about 5 days now.
Kit Kat 4.4.2 version..
I have been getting familiar with it since then clicking on different apps and things just to get more acquainted with the phone and all it has."
Today I clicked on the software update button in my phone settings.
I thought after I clicked on "software update" that I could read what updates were available, if any. Instead, it said that there was an available update and started downloading a 100+ MB file. there was no option to cancel or stop this file download.
After the file downloaded, it asked me if I want to install, or postpone the update an hour, 2 hours, 6 hours, etc..... I think I chose the 12 hour to postpone so that I had time to find out what the update is about. There was a bunch of warnings that came with that message about that it is a 10 minute update and I can NOT use the phone at all during the update period. Not even 911.
I chatted with Tmobile and they recommend I do it & at one point there would be a notification that there was an available update. They said it is the 4.4.4 update. I told them that I wanted to delete, cancel, stop, etc the update. She said to remove the battery and /or disable wifi. I told her that it said to absolutely not to do any of that if the update has started.
SHe assured me that it wont hurt the devise at all.
Well I am not gonna take her word for it just yet. I would rather let the update go thru, than have my new phone ruined.
If you ask me why I want to stop my phone from getting 4.4.4 now, it is because I dont want to update something that is not giving me problems. I have had a couple of good apps running on my phone that I liked that got updated, only to find that they stopped working.
I can get other apps, but I dont want to update something until I know more about it. I read that the update causes the battery to drain faster afterward. But, I would like your input please.
" My main questions are HOW do I safely uninstall the download file that is associated with this update. Is it possible? Is it safe to uninstall? Do you recommend the update?
