Root Help Recovering data

I need to recover some voice recordings off my phone, however, it refuses to load. Before it died on me, I had shut down some programs through RAM manager in an effort to reduce a significant slowdown. I keep getting stuck at the white screen with the T-Mobile 4G LTE logo.

So far, I have attempted to:
access sleep mode (didn't load)
clear the cache (didn't fix the problem)
reinstall the OS via the internal ROM manager (stayed stuck on Odin's downloading screen for over a day)
soft reset by clearing the battery and capacitors (no effect)
access the data through KIES (nothing was ever set up with the phone, and it refuses to connect now)

Frankly, I'm not sure what else I can try. Sure, I could always restore it to factory settings and hope that fixes the problem, but I'd prefer to not lose the data.

I was able to install TWRP easily enough, but I've tried three different computers, and none of them want to show the phone in 'My Computer'. Obviously, since Odin was able to connect, the phone is being detected (and 'Samsung Android' pops up in the device manager), but neither KIES nor Windows want to navigate to the phone. I'm using TWRP 2.7.0, since that was the latest version I found confirmed for the SGH-T399.

UPDATE: With a microSD, I was able to extract the necessary data, and so I went ahead and performed a factory reset. The OS didn't load the first attempt after the reset, but it now seems to be working fine. Thanks for the advice, DMedina.
