Help Help refreshing manually created playlists

I need help refreshing playlists on my SG3 (SGH—i747) Android 4.4.2.

I create three podcast playlists on my PC daily, e.g.
Playlist.m3u the contents of which are typically: extSdCard\Music\Podcasts\The John Batchelor Show\JBS_150707A.mp3.

I FTP the playlists and the MP3s to my S3 on a daily basis. All of my remaining playlists are created manually but are not updated regularly, so they are not affected.

The issue I am trying to resolve is that if I reboot the phone the podcasts listed in the playlists are duplicated.

I have tried deleting the cache; deleting the data; and force stopping the media player in the system apps utility, before and after I ftp the updated playlist. And then rebooting. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t.

There must be a location on my phone that stores the playlists (other than in my “\memory card\Playlists\” folder where I keep all of my playlists, so that the image of a deleted playlist is retained, and then combined with the new playlist?

I cannot find any app that would simply update the playlists, disregarding the way the playlist looked yesterday.

I read here that the proper path should be:
extSdCard/Music/Podcasts/The John Batchelor Show/JBS_150707A.mp3; but making that change doesn’t seem to make any difference ( note the forward slash.)

Where can I go to find any possible answer?

Thanks for your help.
