Help Help remove pop up ads on Android

Gigaparsec

Lurker
Hi all, I'm trying to get rid of random ads popping up on my phone. This started happening after a website I was at started randomly opening different urls automatically. I've tried scanning my device with malwarebytes, avast, air push detector and Ad Clean & Antivirus Security. All of which say my phone is clean. Thanks for any suggestions on what else I can try before I resort to format factory resetting my phone.
Here is a screenshot of an ad that I get.

It was happening with Chrome android browser. So I disabled it which cleared all the apps defaults and cache. As you can see in my screen shot the ad is displayed over top of my home screen and I'm not in any browser.

I too, got hit by one of those 'Screen Overlays' that just pops up at random times on top of anything and everything. Homescreens, or you just wanting to use the GPS...

I tried all of the recommended ways to get rid of it w/o getting brutal....
then I just sucked in my gut, and did the FDR.

end of advertisement junk.... after that, I have been very religious about Never Touching any of those advert links.
they pull in that crap and install it into the phone's system area where can't erase it.

Now, I only use one Browser, AdBlock, and it does a good job of keeping the rascals out of my phone.
* Adblock Browser for Android - Android Apps on Google Play

Of course, all of those Free App "in app" advertisements..... make it a point to never click on one.
