Help Help! Replacing Broken 0002 Today

Help me back up my data. What are my options to restore my EVO's goodness to a replacement from Sprint. Once all items are saved. Is there a proper way to delete all pics and videos from SD and phone. I have a lot of rather personal photos. Nothing illicit...


Now it stands I am tapping this form's information for the best way to back up all of my photos, mms,sms, and basically everything. To save from losing all of my phones 'character' along with preserving all I can.


With that said, would you be so kind to direct me to the end all be all 'oh sh.., I have to replace my EVO HELP!' items.


I have already purchased MyBackup, soon I will link all my contacts to gmail. (always felt a little apprehensive to link ppl to internet) Thus I chose 'phone' when saving ppl. Also, I am going to best buy for a card reader. So I can back up the entire SD. While I am there, I will look for an extra 16GB/32GB card.


Is it going to be that easy? Google taking care of contacts, my backup helping to manage text, and copy all to a new card for pics/videos?


Keep in mind that my phone is not rooted and I failed to run the latest OTA.

I appreciate your help and insight. I will be headed to the Sprint store tommarow to get my replacement EVO. I have until 7pm. So I will delay as much as possible to make sure I do everything possible to restore my new phone to this current one.
 
Without root, there is no true way to backup apps. MyBackup will backup the app itself, but not the app's data (i.e. angry birds saved games). Contacts should be backed up to google, login to your gmail to make sure, and if not, change your contacts to Google Contacts instead of Phone contacts. SMS can be backed up with SMS Backup and Restore.
 
Oh man my contacts are so messed up. I linked probably 10% of my contacts to gmail from day one to now. So of course I am going back and linking all of them now.


I now run into this issue. When I go to people. I select a contact. Press the 'link' icon upper right. Then I am prompted to select a contact. Why? What do I have to link a contact to? I cannot find the same contact. Duh. So I get stuck and have to cancel. Instead of done.... I have linked exactly 0 of 378. Man do I feel slow. Could you please tell me what I a doing wrong?


Mind you I don't use my gmail for serious emails. So I have very little contacts in the first place.
