Root Help Rooting a new 8.9 Fire

I got a new Fire due to battery issues with my existing rooted 8.9. I am finding that no matter what driver I put on my pc, I can't get adb to 'see' the device.

which guide are you following to root ? and im assuming there wasnt a problem when you rooted your last HD ? in the meantime try and uninstall all drivers associatedwith the HD with the HD plugged in. then try again using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996873
